I am expecting a baby and living life in the third trimester. Although I have done this before, I still have many days when I dance between sheer excitement to meet this strong, kicking baby and huge concern over the life change that is coming very quickly for me and my family. Often, anticipation and worry play a vigorous game of tug-of-war in my thoughts and in my emotions.

This tug-of-war over the past eight months of pregnancy has reminded me of the wild roller coaster ride that seasons of change and expectation in life can bring. Along with excitement, dreaming, and anticipation can come fear, insecurity, and uncertainty. Yet, through this season I am growing as I become increasingly more thankful that there is a God who can bring peace to my fear, security to my insecurity, and steadfast love to my uncertainty.

Like me, you may also be living in a season of change and expectation. Your change may not be pregnancy, but it could be empty-nesting, moving, starting a new job, getting married, or retiring. Regardless of the reason for your change, be reminded today that God is present in this season. He offers peace, security, and steadfast love throughout every curve, bump, and new day.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

– Isaiah 26:3, NIV

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

– 1 Peter 5:7, NIV
