Jesus touched the lives of many people during the three years of His earthly ministry. But He invested most of His time in 12 men who followed Him, sat at His feet, and absorbed all He taught them. Jesus prepared them to share His message and carry on His mission after He returned to His Father. That training and the power of the Holy Spirit enabled His disciples to spread the Gospel.

Several months ago, I was privileged to travel to a training event for Planning Team members. It was wonderful to meet so many great women! And, I saw firsthand what can happen when women are invested in, coached, and trained to carry out our mission. The handbooks are great, but time with an impassioned leader who reinforces the vision and inspires you is even better. If Stonecroft is to continue another 80 years and beyond, training is a must! We are charged with the same mission as those first disciples – to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ – so we need to effectively train women for that task.

Leaders, when you host training events, you provide an environment for encouragement and equipping that produces synergy. You help to stir up creative ideas and stretch your team members to grow. Planning Team members, try to learn all you can about the position you fill. Take advantage of any training offered. If it becomes necessary to step aside, train your successor well.

Stonecroft’s Home Office provides many training resources. To find these, visit stonecroft.org and hover over the “Resources” tab. Recent trainings you might want to access are the DISC Model of Human Behavior training calls (“National Conference Calls” in the drop-down menu) and Financial Coordinator training (“Women’s Connection” in the drop-down menu). You’ll also find a directory of prayer resources and evangelism training tools on our website.

Why train? To follow Jesus’ example, perpetuate the vision, equip the saints, and introduce many more women to Jesus.
