“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
which means ‘God is with us.’

– Matthew 1:23, NLT

Since sharing the Gospel through Stonecroft, I find myself understanding the enormity of this verse in a sobering way. While Christmas traditions bombard our senses this time of year, let us not only remember the birth of Jesus as the reason for the season, but take time to be still and ponder it. When we sing the Christmas carols and celebrate the nativity, let us stop and think about the gift God gave us that night: “God is with us.”

God chose to walk and talk with us in an intimate way that would allow us to have a personal relationship with Him. We are celebrating the moment that our Lord chose to be with us in our flawed human state. What a time to reflect on how our Father loves us and how great are the gifts He gives us. May He show himself intimately to you this Christmas.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

– John 3:16
