In 2023, Lent is from February 22- April 6. It is a journey toward the cross with Jesus, a time to lean into the beauty of God’s plan for redemption, even as we mourn what our Savior had to endure as the Lamb of God. We invite you to join us in these weekly prayers over the Lenten season.
The seasons and celebrations of the Christian calendar are intended as stepping stones in our spiritual journey, a map of sorts that regularly brings us through the life of Jesus Christ and God’s purposes for our lives.
If the Advent season goes a little too fast because of the holiday hoopla swirling around us, then Lent can become a slower season of reflection. We can pause longer over the Last Supper or linger in the fragrance of a jar of perfume poured over Jesus’s feet.
It is a time to burrow into God’s Word like a warm blanket straight from eternity. Let this be a time that will bring us closer to God and right up to the foot of the cross.
But we won’t stop there. We’ll go to that blessedly empty tomb, where we’ll wonder and rejoice. Our feet will become swift as we run off to tell more people of this remarkable thing that has happened!
