Spring is here, and you want to peel those layers. If you made a few adjustments in your exercise and nutrition habits during the last three months, you’re off to a great start. If you didn’t, let’s make some quick changes. It’s never too late to start your own health journey to become the best you that you can be. Here are some tips to help you with that process:

First, as the weather begins to get warmer, you should increase the water you drink. Be sure your water intake ranges from at least 84 oz. to 1 gallon (128 oz.) a day. By adding this amount of water, you’ll see a change in your skin. It will look healthier. Water is a natural cleanser and can help push out some bad elements.

Second, how often and what do you eat? Do you eat at least three sensible meals each day? Do your meals include a vegetable, lean meat, complex carb (such as oatmeal, brown rice, or sweet potato)? Are you skipping breakfast?

You’ve heard this plenty of times. and I’ll say it again: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Earlier in my life, I didn’t enjoy breakfast, but now I do with a delicious nutrient-packed shake that I can change the flavor of daily and still meet my fitness goals.

Third, how active are you each day? If you constantly walk on the job and have been doing so for more than six months, you still need to do cardio workouts beyond that.

Your body tends to familiarize itself with repetitive activity over time. Start where you feel comfortable. Take a walk, go for a light jog, or attend a Zumba® or spin class. Play kickball or another sport with your family. Whatever you do, get moving – and get to a healthier you.

Here’s some advice from my mentor: Challenge yourself! If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. You have to push through to get through.
