Have you heard about “Awaken”? It’s Stonecroft’s current theme. We’re praying for God to awaken our hearts, open our eyes, fill us with compassion for those who haven’t heard the Good News. We’re praying that God will wake up the church, that His people will feel compelled to share the Gospel. We’re praying for God to awaken those who do not follow Christ, that they will recognize their heart need and seek Him. We’re praying for an Awakening. We’re praying for revival. We are praying that thousands upon thousands more people will begin a relationship with the God of the Universe through His Son, Jesus. We’re praying. Prayer is key. Prayer precedes big movements of God. Prayer accompanies revivals:

When God has something very great to accomplish for his church, it is his will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of his people; . . . and it is revealed that, when God is about to accomplish great things for his church, he will begin by remarkably pouring out the spirit of grace and supplication. ( Jonathan Edwards, great Protestant theologian and one-time president of Princeton, in Some Thoughts on Revival, as quoted by Alvin Reid at http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/should-we-pray-for-revival)

Will you pray with us? Will you continue to pray for an awakening – starting in your own heart? And here’s a really practical way to pray. Pray for neighbors, friends, coworkers, and family members who don’t have a relationship with Jesus. Pray specifically for them this holiday season. In fact, join us for our Holiday Prays outreach! It’s really simple. Thanksgiving and Christmas can be difficult for many people. Those holidays were tough on our family after my husband, Rick, passed away. You know this is true for so many.

So through November and December, ask those who don’t know Jesus how you might pray for them during the holidays. Write down those prayer requests. Then pray. Pray a lot. Pray through the holidays. After Christmas, go back and ask your friends how things went. Tell them you prayed faithfully. Offer to pray some more. And if you have the opportunity, share the Gospel with the people for whom you prayed. Or invite them to a Stonecroft outreach or Bible study. And tell us your stories. Tell us how God answered prayer and transformed lives. Stop by www.stonecroft.org/holidayprays and print out some prayer request cards for you to use. And come back later to share your stories. Keep praying. Keep praying for your friends, neighbors, coworkers and family. Keep praying for many to begin a relationship with Jesus. And keep praying that we all Awaken!
