Pause for a moment and think about the most influential woman in your life. I’m talking about a woman who has clearly had a significant and positive influence on who you are today. Is there one who stands out above the rest? Why is that?

I have been blessed to be surrounded by many wonderful examples of women of the Word; and of all of those women, my grandmother would definitely qualify as the most influential.

Grandma prayed for me every day. She spoke words of accountability and wisdom over me, and was an amazing woman of God. She never missed a chance to share the Gospel. She was full of grace, and had a major impact on the spiritual life of every kid in our children’s church. Ask any of my cousins and any child she taught in Sunday School. You’ll get the same response I’m giving you now. Her influence was substantial.

I would love to even come close to being the woman of God she was. Although she’s not on this earth any longer, she’s in my thoughts and still holding me accountable to this day. Her example and legacy live on in me and many others.

I think of her whenever I recall Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (ESV):

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

I pray that you are blessed by the influence of a true Proverbs 31 godly woman, and you, in turn, pass along the legacy of His love – as I hope to do in honor of my grandmother.
