I was on my way home from work at 12:45 a.m. A person waved me down in the dark. I did a “Spirit check” and felt it was OK to stop. When I rolled down my window a few inches, I saw a woman crying.

I couldn’t tell much about what the issue was as she tried to speak through her tears, but she needed a ride. I did another “Spirit check” and cautiously agreed to her request. As we talked, I discovered her name was Cassidy and she lived about a mile away. She was just in a fight with her boyfriend who had been drinking. While the boyfriend had not hurt her, she had fallen and her knee was injured.

I asked what her relationship was with God. She replied, “I was just yelling out to God to help me – just before I heard your car pull up.”

I told her about the gift of salvation and that God loved her so much to arrange this perfect meeting. I explained the need to accept His Gift, just the like the gift under the Christmas tree.

“Knowing about the gift isn’t enough to have it; you must accept it,” I told her.

In the middle of the night, in a dimly lit, quiet car, Cassidy prayed to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“I have just been given a miracle,” Cassidy realized.

I smiled. “Yes, you have,” I agreed.

We continued to talk about the need to forgive her boyfriend, just like Jesus forgave us. I gave her a Stonecroft Life Publication booklet. I always keep a few in my car. I never know when I will need them.

It is so good to serve our awesome God, meeting women where they are, as they are – even when they’re crying alongside a dark road.
