Did you know that to make just one tablespoon of honey, a bee has to visit 4,200 flowers! A worker bee will make up to 10 trips a day, visiting 400 flowers. And they don’t mind doing it because they care about their hive.

Bees are social; they spend almost all of their time feeding other bees, rather than themselves. They like to interact and “bee” with one another, and they always share when they find nectar. Mutual feeding seems to be a part of that special relationship.

This is a great example for us in our ministry and families. Not only do we need to help other people in our “hive” hear and understand the good news, we need to serve them. Of course, worker bees first have to feed themselves before they have the energy to feed others. Likewise, we need to read our Bibles and pray before we serve others.

Honeybees are loyal to their queen. We are loyal to Jesus. Honeybees are optimistic, they press on through the thorns to get to the nectar. We press on through our trials to be a sweet witness for Jesus. Honeybees share and serve, they will fly the distance in search of nectar, when they find it they will turn around and make a “beeline” back to their hive so that all the bees can join in the good news and go get some nectar. We are compelled to run and share the Gospel of Jesus with women where they are, as they are.

When we taste the goodness of the Lord, we should want to share it with the rest of our hive. Bees love to share the good news, and so should we

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
