A common concern among our speakers is that they feel they are “preaching to the choir” at many of the outreach events where they speak. However, our CEO, Lorraine Kalal, cautions us never to assume this because there are women who attend our Outreach Groups month after month who think they are Christians but are not. I experienced this truth when a good church-goer attended one of our Speakers’ workshops and later told a friend that she had never heard about the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

As speakers, our challenge is to capture the attention of these guests who consider themselves Christians but have not actually experienced a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This can easily be done by adding a few sentences at the end of your talk when you recap the Gospel. For example, this is how I’ve tweaked my talks. I say:

Some of you go to church week after week after week and assume you are Christians. It’s like going into a garage week after week after week and calling yourself a car. Even if you read the car manual, it still doesn’t make you a car. Neither does going to church make you a Christian. It doesn’t work that way. You need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

I then explain again the plan of salvation and give the invitation to pray to receive Jesus Christ. The results have been astounding! To God be the glory!

What are some ways you convey the truth about our need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?  Share them on the Speaker Facebook page.
