“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”

 – Colossians 3:15, NLT

We have access to God’s perfect peace at all times because the Holy Spirit dwells within us.  Yet, we often let the trials and schedules of this world distract us from accessing peace that “transcends all understanding” (Phil 4:7). When we pray with thanksgiving, we receive peace with God through Christ Jesus. Focusing on all the good things God has done, given or allowed in our lives will keep replacing the negative, self-centeredness of our human nature with positive, joyful thanksgiving. When we fill our hearts with thanks and not complaints, the peace of God washes over us.

This month, try giving thanks as you begin your time with God. Each day, note three different things to be thankful for about that day. As you begin to replace your to-do list with your thankful list, you will experience more peace and less anxiety in your everyday lives. Accessing this perfect peace frees us to love and lead with more joy and unity.

Allow your relationship with God to deepen through thanksgiving. Then pass along this peace as you share the message of salvation.

“How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,
the good news of peace and salvation,
the news that the God of Israel reigns!”

– Isaiah 52:7
