Vision. A word so simple yet packed with profound meaning. It inspires, motivates, and sometimes overwhelms. Many of us wrestle with questions like, What is vision? Why do I need it? Where does it come from?
For me, vision became personal when my family transitioned back to the U.S. after years of living overseas. Determined to plant roots, we bought a home in a small subdivision nestled in the countryside—a perfect mix of serenity and community, or so I thought.
At first, I envisioned a warm, welcoming neighborhood. I pictured friendly faces stopping by with cookies, sharing tips for navigating local schools, and offering invitations to church. But days turned into weeks, and the reality was silence. No introductions. No knocks at the door.
Despite my attempts to build connections—inviting neighbors to Bible studies, driveway barbecues, or even casual conversations during walks—nothing seemed to stick. I began to question: What am I missing? Why is this so hard?
That’s when God reminded me of a truth I’d overlooked. When we don’t know what else to do, we turn to Him. We pray.
Rooted in Prayer
Romans 8:26 reassures us, “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Inspired by this verse, I started walking the neighborhood, praying for the families living in each house. I asked God to meet their needs, heal their hurts, and draw them closer to Him.
But I longed for a deeper, more intentional way to connect. That’s when I discovered the BLESS App.
A Tool for Intentional Living
The BLESS App has transformed my approach to prayer and evangelism. Designed to foster connection in an increasingly isolated world, it provides an innovative way to engage with my community. By leveraging publicly available information, the app generates a personalized prayer list, including names and addresses of up to five neighbors at a time that live near my home.
This feature breathed new life into my prayers. Suddenly, my generic petitions became deeply personal. Knowing my neighbors’ names gave me a sense of connection, even before we exchanged words.
The app also incorporates scripture-based prompts, encouraging me to pray God’s Word over my neighbors. For example, I might pray Isaiah 41:10, asking God to strengthen and uphold them in their challenges. The app even suggests practical ways to bless others, helping me turn my prayers into tangible acts of kindness.
Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll be sharing ways to use this tool. For now, explore how you can get started by reviewing the introduction download. CLICK HERE to view.
Building an Evangelistic Mindset
Living with a Kingdom vision means cultivating a heart for the lost—a mindset that often doesn’t come naturally. It requires intentionality, discipline, and daily surrender to God’s call.
- Pray for Desire: Ask God to give you a passion for reaching others with His love.
- Dedicate Time: Incorporate prayer for your community into your daily routine, using tools like the BLESS App to guide you.
- Take Action: Move beyond prayer to engage with those around you. Whether it’s a simple wave, a note of encouragement, or an invitation to a gathering, small steps can make a big impact.
Vision Rooted in Scripture
Vision for the Kingdom isn’t about grand, unattainable goals. It’s about aligning your heart with God’s through prayer, scripture, and intentional living. Proverbs 29:18, NLT reminds us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Vision is essential, but it must be rooted in God’s Word and His purposes.
The journey to grow your vision for the Kingdom might start with small, simple acts of faithfulness.
Whether through prayer walks, personal outreach, or using tools like the BLESS App, you can make a lasting impact—one neighbor, one prayer, one step at a time.
So, ask yourself: What vision has God placed on my heart for His Kingdom? And how will I pursue it today?
The best part is that you can start right now! You don’t need a group, a curriculum, or even a detailed plan to begin. Simply take the first step. As you start this journey, you’ll likely find it too exciting to keep to yourself.
Invite a friend to join you in praying for their neighborhood. Encourage someone to partner with you in praying for revival among those around you. God is already at work and ready to move. He will guide you to people whose hearts are open and ready to hear the Gospel message, leading them to give their lives to Jesus.
Let’s commit to living intentionally for His glory, growing our vision, and letting God work through us to transform lives.
