First-time guests energize our Women’s Connections and Stonecroft Bible Studies. Their presence offers the possibility of making new friends and, most importantly, sharing the Gospel with someone who may not have a relationship with Jesus. But how do we get first-time guests to attend?

Ask Cheryl Woods of the Sun City, Arizona, Christian Women’s Club.

She invites her friends, neighbors, and even people she doesn’t know. In fact, as many as three tables at recent Sun City brunches were filled by women Cheryl invited!

Cheryl, a Program Coordinator and Caller, offers these suggestions to invite others:

  • Be aware of the women around you. Be especially sensitive to those needing encouragement or a place to belong. Explain that the Group is open to anyone from all walks of life.
  • Be up-front with possible guests about what will go on at your Group. Explain that the Christian faith will be talked about, but it won’t be religious-sounding and they won’t hear a sermon. They will hear an encouraging, faith-based message from someone who overcame a difficult life situation.
  • Remember, first-time and newer guests can be encouraged to invite their friends. This is how your Group (and excitement) grows!
  • If you’re on the calling team, ask “Did you enjoy the brunch?” Then follow with: “Perhaps you know a neighbor or friend who might want to attend. Feel free to invite her. Or if you want to give me her contact information, I’ll be happy to call her.”
