With the revision of the Stonecroft Bible Studies (SBS), there have been some questions regarding the Stonecroft Bible Studies Coordinator role. “So what should I be doing with my volunteer hours?” you may ask. I’m summarizing the high points from the SBS Handbook. In addition, be watching for more encouragement from our SBS committee early next spring.

The Coordinator’s purpose is to establish a Stonecroft Bible Studies ministry in your community. To carry this out, SBS Coordinators encourage, train, and help expand Stonecroft Bible Studies. You work with Stonecroft leaders and other Christians to challenge believers to reach their neighborhoods for Christ through the life-changing power of God’s Word.

A Coordinator’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Identifies potential Bible study Guides and arranges a time to review Statement of Faith, Stonecroft Bible Studies Application, Stonecroft Policies, and the responsibilities of a Guide.
  • Once the Guide and Coordinator both agree to move forward with starting a Bible study group, the Coordinator trains the Guide about how to choose the appropriate study, invite participants, select and train Hosts, effectively facilitate a group, and may order Stonecroft materials.
  • Prays regularly for the Stonecroft Bible Studies outreach ministry in the area.
  • Notifies Stonecroft of new Guides and Hosts, using the Volunteer Contact Information form, or e-mailing[email protected]; and utilizes the online Ministry Activity Report or hardcopy (and mails it in) to report on each group’s participants and their progress.
  • Organizes new Bible studies and challenges the participants to expand the outreach of Stonecroft Bible Studies; recommends one-on-one studies for those who do not feel comfortable in a group; and may visit a Stonecroft Bible Studies group periodically.
  • Maintains communication and develops personal relationships with Guides throughout the year; prays regularly for Guides and Hosts; provides additional training and encouragement when needed; introduces new Stonecroft Bible Studies; and coaches on group facilitation skills.
  • Works in conjunction with the regional leadership team to plan at least one event each year to bring Guides together within the region; in addition, may plan events such as Informational Meetings (Get Acquainted Parties or Introductory Coffees) to introduce people to Stonecroft Bible Studies.

If you are serving as a Coordinator today, we want to hear from you. In what ways are you encouraging your Guides? How often do you schedule training for your Guides? In what ways do you stimulate new studies starting in your community?  Send feedback to [email protected]. We want to share your ideas with other coordinators!

“I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them.”
