‘Tis the season to be – praying!

Stonecroft’s newest prayer outreach, Holiday Prays, launches this tri-holiday season of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. It’s so simple, yet yields eternal results. There’s no cost, no meetings, no fuss. You just listen to the women you encounter in your regular routine (especially those who don’t know Christ). Ask how you might pray for them. And make notes. Then pray. In January, you check with those you prayed for to get an update on their prayer need. This follow-up can lead to a spiritual conversation that opens the door to the Gospel. Use our beautiful cards to record prayer needs. It’s an easy way to make your prayer time special.

It would be next to impossible to tell the Stonecroft story without mentioning “prayer.” Our founder, Helen Duff Baugh, started 24 prayer groups in her community 78 years ago to pray for ways to tell people about God and His love. Since that time, prayer has been the foundation of everything we do.

Stonecroft’s various outreaches form the layers built upon this foundation. Our highest priority? Prayer for those who do not yet have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Through the years, we’ve added more events and support for prayer opportunities that draw women of all ages and interests. Stonecroft prayer gatherings around the country number near 750.

Prayer Connections. Before each Women’s Connection event, planning team members as well as other volunteers gather to pray. Using a devotion and prayer guide, they pray for the people on their upcoming program, that the plans run smoothly, for many first-time guests, and especially those women who don’t know Christ. They also pray for community, personal needs, our nation and government, Stonecroft staff, and our international partners. Our website has some creative ideas for these events.

Stonecroft Prays. These prayer gatherings meet regularly to ask God for revival and for new ways to reach nonbelievers. These informal gatherings happen in homes, coffee shops, parks, anywhere. Prays groups use a prayer guide that includes a devotion for that month.

The annual nationwide Stonecroft Prays Walk held in the fall encourages women to take their prayers to the streets of their community. They pray for new avenues of outreach and for people to begin a relationship with Jesus. In the 2016 Prays Walk, women prayed at businesses, assisted living facilities, neighborhoods, government facility, gardens, apartment complexes, and military bases. Some prayed in the rain and another group prayed in the midst of flood recovery. Some asked those they encountered how they could pray for them, and some passed out materials or bottled water.

“We are called to pray for those who need Jesus,” says Mary Naggatz, Stonecroft Regional Administrator. “There are all kinds of people out there who need Jesus. We don’t know their needs, but God knows. When we walk by their houses, we pray for them.”

1st Day Prayer Calls. Stonecroft volunteers across the country join a conference call to intercede for unbelievers, our ministry, country and leaders, and personal prayer requests. Something special happens when we unite to lift our needs to our Father God. The National Conference Call happens on or near the first day of each month.

Staff Prayer. Did you know Stonecroft also prays for you? Each day, Stonecroft staff prays, remembering the Stonecroft groups and outreach events that are taking place as well as volunteer prayer needs. Whether it’s in the personal prayer room, small groups, Home Office devotions, or all-staff Morning of Prayer conducted via internet, staff members consider it a privilege to pray for you and the women around you where they are, as they are. Feel free to send your prayer requests to [email protected] and event invitations to [email protected] as prayer reminders for the staff.
