As a Louisville wife and mother of four children ranging from age 5 to 11, Erika Boyd loves combining her passion for fitness and people with her Christian faith. She lives this out weekly as a certified REFIT® instructor. When Erika agreed to help with the Louisville, Kentucky, Detox event she received a second dose of her passion.

Erika will co-lead a REFIT® session to teach the physical component of balanced living. The workout uses cardio dance movements, toning, flexibility, strength training and stretching. The program focuses “on the heart as a muscle and a soul.” She believes that its added benefits of community, and the opportunity to hear a spiritual and prayerful closing, make this a great addition to Detox. Her hope is to see women of all ages and fitness levels give the workout a try.

She first heard about Detox from Sarah LeBlanc, a Stonecroft Divisional Field Director, who participates in her classes. When Erika learned how Detox targets the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of balanced living, she wanted to be a part of it.

“I think there are lots of women who feel stretched because they fill so many roles,” Erika says. “I like the way Detox emphasizes mind, body, and soul. It’s a great picture of how they all work together for balanced living.”

She also likes the options for staying involved afterward through follow-up groups. “You can get involved with like-minded women. The community groups have many connection points,” she says.
