Singing at Midnight
By Geneva Vollrath, CEO/President

Have you ever felt discouraged? Sometimes all it takes is a quick look around. We become disheartened by the shaky economy, environmental disasters, and a nation that is rapidly becoming post-Christian. Even in ministry, we face struggles and disappointment.

The audience, a little reluctant to leave, exited to "Lord, You are Good." Thanks to all participants for their great comments, questions, and interactions. A meaningful day for the Kingdom! May God continue to stir our hearts and move us out to reach others for Him.

Geneva commissioned attendees to be Jesus Christ's witnesses in Jerusalem (with those who are like us), in Judea (where people may be a little different), in Samaria (where the outcasts live), and the uttermost parts of the earth (where we may feel totally out of place).

We are all called to be hospitable—to make space for strangers. Henri Nouwen: "Hospitality is a space where change can take place—where a stranger becomes a friend and not an enemy."

She closed with a prayer that we would respond to how God has stirred our hearts today—to live in Him, to move as He directs, and to be the person He created us to be.

Good interaction and questions/answers regarding being the woman God created you to be.

Can a victim of abuse and addiction be used by God? YES! God forgives our past and desires to use us.

How can I explain God's grace to a non-believer? Listen. Meet the person where they are, then we can bring in God's grace in ways that are relevant.

How can we change if we are leaning on someone/something other than God? Prayer, stepping out in faith, asking friends and mentors to help us, transforming our minds through God's Word.

How do you determine your giftedness? Ask yourself, "What do I enjoy doing that meets the needs of others?" God has planted that in you.

Keynote speaker Gail Dudley: BE the woman God created you to be. Make your life matter.

Stir up the gifts within you. Be women of purpose; women who are fearless.

Be a woman of power. Walk with the power of Christ.

Share the gospel without shame. If you will open your mouth, God will speak through you. Be bold and secure in Christ.

Say "yes" to Jesus. Say "yes" if He is stirring your heart to know Him. Say "yes" to the ministry God has for you.

Today is a new beginning. How dare we sit on the gifts God has poured into us? It is time to make our lives matter. It is time to be the women God created us to be.

Beautiful true story of one woman, Georgia, who offered to pray for another and shared the Gospel with her through a Stonecroft Life Publication. The ripple effect this had led to six women who received Christ as a result!

And of Jane, in Kenya, who ministers to women who have lost everything, but are learning of God's love and care for them through Jane's life and Stonecroft Bible Studies.

True stories—real redemption.

God is using Stonecroft Ministries to equip and encourage women like Georgia and Jane to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their communities. To support this  life-transforming work, click on the "Donate" button at www.stonecroft.org/stir.

Great discussion on how to MOVE for God. Some highlights:

How do we engage the culture? The message is the same, but the cup that serves the message needs to be from their culture.

How do I know it's God moving me—and not myself? Be patient. Wait on God—don't move ahead of Him.

What do we say to those who don't feel they have the gift of evangelism? Evangelism is an everyday experience. God gives us opportunities and carves out moments to share our story and God's story.

If we feel God moving us, what is the next step? Pray. Seek counsel. Look to His Word. Stop and look around. Where is God working? Join Him there.

Stir coverage

Keynote speaker Lisa Heidrich—How do we MOVE others for God? Through evangelism, faith, obedience, and enthusiasm.

Evangelism—you have a story. How have you seen God move in your life? Your story is what will move others toward God.

Faith—God will be our guide when we can't see what is ahead of us. Take a step of faith and move for God.

Obedience—Fear often paralyzes us. There is nothing to lose by saying, "Yes, move me, Lord." It's hard to move a car—or a woman—in park. Obedience takes bravery. Are you ready and willing for God to move you?

Enthusiasm—means God in us. We are infused with God's love. He is in us! Move for God!

Great conversation regarding what it means to LIVE. Some highlights:

You cannot do everything, but you can do one thing. The one thing you can do can help someone. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what that one thing is.

Trust God to help you live without the mask. Allow people to see your brokenness.

When we experience fear in reaching out, walk in faith—allow God to strengthen us. Often our fear is out of proportion to the situation.

Posted Date:
October 2, 2010, 11:12 am

Stir coverage

Keynote speaker Trina Pockett: Micah 6:8 tells us how to LIVE—to act justly, to love mercy, to walk humbly with God.

What does it mean to act justly? Injustices are those things that break the heart of God. God has called each of us to be part of His redemptive love—to act justly.

To love mercy—Jesus is all about mercy. All around us are women who look beautiful on the outside but are dying on the inside. They need a word of hope. Pain comes in many packages, but Jesus can redeem any situation.

Walking humbly with God—God wants me to allow Him to use me. He wants us to trust Him to walk humbly with Him.

God calls us to engage in this life. There are people who are hurting and they need you! Use the action words in this verse—act, love, walk. Ask God to show you the things that break His heart and to help you address them.
