Have you ever felt stucknot able to move one way or another? In Washington State where I live, I often marvel at the sight of the big boulders which appear stuck on the high edges of the mountain. Geologists describe the "angle of repose," which causes a boulder to rest on the side of a hill rather than tumble down. But every once in a while, one of those boulders will break loose, releasing potential energy in a crashing rockslide that can permanently alter the landscape. READ MORE
