GIVING BEYOND TITHES AND OFFERINGS
By Sue Vogt, Vice President of Advancement
"But just as you excel in everything-in faith, knowledge, complete earnestness, and in your love for us-see that you also excel in the grace of giving." -2 Corinthians 8:7
Tithes and offerings are traditional methods of giving to your church or a favorite ministry such as Stonecroft. They are excellent avenues for helping expand God's work in our communities.
Here's another way you can offer your support that you may not have considered. U.S. tax laws offer opportunities for creative giving that Apostle Paul could not have imagined when he wrote the verse above. With planning, you can fund the work of Stonecroft Ministries and preserve wealth at the same time, leaving an inheritance for your heirs and loved ones.
For example, you can gift a life insurance policy that you no longer need, use it to help fund the work of Stonecroft Ministries, and receive a charitable income-tax deduction based on the current value of the policy.
Life insurance can also fund various other charitable income arrangements, such as a Charitable Gift Annuity. And did you know that you can designate all or part of a life insurance policy you are currently paying premiums on-and your payments will become deductible?
The biblical model of Christian financial stewardship is God's plan for properly managing resources entrusted to your care, providing for family, blessing loved ones, and advancing His kingdom by supporting the work of Christian organizations like Stonecroft Ministries.
Stonecroft Ministries advises you to always consult your trusted advisor before you make any gift considerations that have a financial impact. In most cases, illustrations of the benefits of these giving options are available to you to discuss with your advisor.
