Buried Treasure
By Sue Vogt, Special Assistant to the President/CEO
"But the man who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money."-Matthew 25:18, NIV
In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus teaches on stewardship, illustrating how Christians can make the best use of resources God has blessed them with as they carry out the work of His kingdom. It might not have occurred to you that you could have your own buried treasure which you may choose to uncover to help advance Christ's work through Stonecroft Ministries!
As I write this, gold is trading at close to $1000 dollars per ounce. Buried treasure can include gold and jewelry that you no longer wear or need. It can also take the form of:
- forgotten hobbies that resulted in a stockpile of now-valuable items, like stamps, coins, baseball cards, comic books,
- or other collectibles works of art or fine china and silver
- unusual or historically significant artifacts, like antique furniture or vintage cars
Buried treasure can also include real estate like time shares, vacant land, commercial property, or interest in a business.
Through Stonecroft's ministry partnership with The Servant Christian Community Foundation (SCCF), any treasures you may choose to donate can be appraised and sold. Once liquidated, all or part of the cash value can be distributed to Stonecroft as a tax-deductible gift, benefiting both you and this ministry. It can also fund a charitable gift annuity which will benefit Stonecroft Ministries today and pay you an income stream for the rest of your life-and then, if applicable, your spouse's life!
Stonecroft Ministries depends on its volunteers to fund the programs, training, materials, resources, communications, technology, building operations, and administrative support which go hand-in-hand with our work. Our stewardship goal is to let you know about opportunities that enable you to be a cheerful and generous giver-and at the same time, show you how to take advantage of tax-wise benefits available to you.
Thousands of women just like you lead lives that have been forever changed because of God's work through Stonecroft Ministries. We've equipped and encouraged women around the world to believe that they could be leaders. We've trained women to reach out to others, sharing from deep within what Jesus Christ means to them.
Today's creative giving opportunities link the need to fund kingdom work with practicality, convenience, and good stewardship. For more information on how you can give to Stonecroft Ministries and benefit from these and other creative giving opportunities, contact Joan Johnson in Donor Services at 1-800-525-8627 or e-mail: stewardship@stonecroft.org.
I pray you will consider how God might call on you to help fund the work of Stonecroft Ministries.
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be."-Matthew 6:21, NIV
