It's hard to think of a segment of our population who needs and appreciates our prayers more than the men and women of the military and their families.

Do you have a desire to become involved in reaching out to the military community? Do you believe in the power of prayer? Do you have a few hours you can commit?

If you've answered yes to these questions, then consider organizing a National Day of Prayer gathering on a military base on May 5, 2011. Make a difference.

Here's what one such gathering held on Mountain Home Air Force Base for the May 2010 National Day of Prayer accomplished:

• It provided an opportunity for 35 men, women, civilian workers, and ministry leaders to join together to pray during a specific time period—the lunch hour.
• Volunteers offered their time and energies to organize and plan the event as a support to the already over-extended Chapel ministry on the base.
• The gathering developed a positive relationship with the base Chapel ministry.
• The event also opened doors for further ministry to women and families on the base, as the base became interested in Stonecroft's Military Women's Connection—A Heart Event.

Our military communities need opportunities for corporate prayer.  They will appreciate that we care enough to provide a place and time for them to pray. Most of all, they will be encouraged as they are reminded through our prayers that God is their Mighty Fortress and He is their Refuge.
